play/ground
A weekend retreat to reset and reinvigorate
April 24 - 26, 2026
Green Nest Lodge, Buckhorn, Ontario

play/ground is designed to be a retreat from the everyday. This is your invitation to access a little extra joy and freedom through movement and creative practices, nourishing food, and community connection.

For a few days, take a deep exhale and soften. Breathe fresh air and touch some grass. Wiggle around. Make a weird craft. Enjoy a sleepover with your new besties. Do a little "mmmmmm" dance in your chair as you eat something deliciously unreal. Let yourself be a goofy guy. Recharge to keep fighting the good fight.

The Setting
We’ll gather at Green Nest Lodge in Buckhorn, Ontario: a private, lakefront space that’s a 2-hour drive away from Toronto.
With Sandy Lake, a dedicated movement studio, walking trails, quiet lounges and libraries, a heated swim spa (with no fewer than 22 jets!), fire pits, and more, there’s so much to explore in the great indoors and outdoors.
You’ll stay in thoughtfully designed private or shared accommodations, with the option to ride solo or share giggles and snores with roommates.
Led by caretaker Sandra Chan and the team at LuminationX, it's a place curated with love, thoughtfulness, and enthusiasm. The Green Nest Lodge & Retreat has a vision of providing a space where all people will feel welcomed and safe enough to down-regulate their nervous system from the overstimulating city life, to regain balance and clarity. Cheers to that!

Meals with Nurture
When I envisioned this retreat, I knew that I wanted our shared meals to be an exceptional experience — an exclamation mark, not a footnote. I am thrilled that our meals, snacks, and treats will be provided by private chef and storyteller Sonja Seiler of Nurture.

Sonja says it best!
"I tell stories through food, and for Nurture, the story is about you.
You, coming into breakfast and seeing a variety of flavours, textures and colours in front of you to 'paint' your own culinary masterpiece with elements that work together in harmony, no matter how you put them on your plate. That's how I buffet.
To me, feeding you as [an] attendee is my way of infusing your creative practice with edible inspiration. It's about serving things family style as a spark for social connection with the person to your right and left. It's about teasing you with smells and reminding your body about the benefits of taking things slowly, because some of the food has steeped or stewed or marinated for as long as it needed to, and so can you.
Nurture food is a culinary love letter."
Allergies, dietary restrictions, and strong dislikes will all be accommodated in the menu. You’ll be asked to provide this information in your registration form.

You won’t be forced to make friends, but if you’re seeking a primarily quiet, independent retreat, play/ground might not be the best option for you. This retreat is designed around connecting with other people and finding joy in community, balanced with time to recharge your social battery if needed! 🙋 One of the great parts of Green Nest Lodge is the abundance of chill zones, both in the larger shared spaces and right outside your bedroom door.

Your Host
I'm Megan (she/her)!
If we haven’t met yet: hi hi hi! I’m a coach, personal trainer, and Pilates instructor based in Toronto. After 6 years of side-gigging, I’ve made movement facilitation my full-time job / personality. You can read more about my fat positive, body liberation approach to fitness on my About Me page.
A few of my favourite things (non-exhaustive): a good book, a good giggle, badly singing along to all sorts of music, meeting new people, hot dogs, being in water, trees, bench pressing, softball, board games, biking, fashion clown style (aspirational).
I have been dreaming of a retreat like this, where I can share some of my favourite activities with old friends and new. Where we make time and space for ease, delight, and embodiment. Where we make shapes with our bodies, eat excellent food, connect with nature, and laugh.
This dream is coming true in April, and I’d love for you to be a part of it.
